First off hello again, hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year!

Our baby boy Connor has arrived he was born Dec 4th.

I started having issues with my blood pressure and ended up being admitted to the hospital the day after Thanksgiving. While there they were doing once a shift fetal heart tone monitoring, baby boy had what they call a decel where his heart rate dropped into the 70's he recovered fine but this put me in the labor and delivery unit for 24 hour fetal and contraction monitoring where I was told I would stay until he was born.

At midnight on Dec 4th they started the process of inducing, using a med called cytotec not the main IV med that they use to induce this is only supposed to "thin your cervix". I started having contractions and he started having decels again so while I rested my DH stayed awake pacing and watching the heart tone monitors. The next day when I woke up he was sleeping and my in laws were there visiting. I was having pretty regular contractions but they weren't what I expected. By the time they would start hurting they would go away. I did however have a horrible earache so the nurse gave me some IV pain medication. We were waiting for the doctor that we had requested to deliver us to be available (he wasn't on call and this was a sunday, he was doing stuff with family and was coming in to start the pitocin at 2) I rolled over in bed and felt what I thought was my water breaking we called the nurse in and at this point my FIL woke up my DH (he had wanted to all morning but I told him to let him rest b/c they had said it would be three days until I delievered, there was no point in him seeing every contraction.) when the nurse came in she told me that my water had not broke, but that she needed to check me anyways b/c they were about to start the pitocin, she did her thing and then said..."Oh my God, you are at an 8, did you want an epidural b/c we need to get it now!" so things progressed pretty quickly. After the epidural my bp dropped (back to normal but low for what it had been) so I felt a little off and Connor's heart rate started dropping again so they started doing internal stimulation which then broke my water. AT this point his heart rate dropped and did not return to normal so my doc decided we needed a C-section.

Well when the doctor started cutting I could feel everything, and they gave me more anithesia but I was still having crazy pain and they ended up having to "twilight" sleep me...that is the weirdest thing I don't remember a lot but my DH says Connor did not cry right off and that his cord was loosely around his neck. Everything seemed perfect.

That night I was still so out of it from the meds we decided to let him stay in the nursery, during the night his blood sugar was dropping and the next day they ended up having to put him in NICU to get IV sugar fluids to help maintain his blood sugar. That Thursday they d/c'd me but kept him, we went home to finish up nursery stuff...organization mainly and I got ready to take a nap, we had been home for about 3ish hours.

Then we get a call that we had 45 minutes to make it the hospital that our son was going to be transferred to a hospital 2 hours away for emergency surgery he had a bowel perforation and they did not know the prognosis.

When we finally arrived at the specialty hospital many hours later he was on a vent and very sedated the surgeon was awesome and put off so much confidence that the family and I relaxed. Well what was supposed to be a 2 hour procedure ended up being a 4.5 hour instead. Yet it didn't seem like that long because he had kept us so informed having a staff member call to the waiting room each hour to give us updates.
When the surgery was finally finished he came out it turned out that our son, had not had a bowel perf instead his stomach had essentially ruptured they had to remove what was thought at this point 2/3s of his stomach and he had a feeding tube in place he was also septic, he explained that this is a surgery he had only done twice (he is a surgery prof at Emory here is GA.) He also said that we may never have a cause to the reason of the surgery and that our son would be in the hospital at LEAST a week and that he understood we both had jobs and not to feel guilty if we had to go back to work and leave our Son there alone eventually. That is how long he was expecting Connor to be in the hospital.
Many days and tests later our DS came off the vent and we even had answers apparently he was missing the muscular layer of his stomach and the doctor explained that it was like a weak spot in a tire when he ate it just ruptured. He asked permission to do a formal write up of the case and said that this is only the third case they have seen in the last ten years. He then assured us that Connor would not have a permanent disablility due to this although he would have to be on tube feedings for a long while to help stretch out his stomach at this point he told us a year.
We are now home, we have a tube called a "mic-key" in place that the doctor told us we would not be able to go home with, we were only in the hospital for a month and 3 days. they are already letting him consolidate his tube feedings and are now saying he may only be on the tube feedings for 6 months. The doctors have all told us how impressed they are with his progress how they all expected him to reach this point but not this fast.
The doctor also told us that our son almost died, he would have died had we been at home instead of the hospital and if the staff at our birth hospital hadn't acted appropriately. He then survived sepsis at 5 days old and also a condition called DIC that only about 10-50% of people survive (adults). He is our miracle child and I am very lucky to have him home he is my world!
I am trying to get in the habit of stitching some when he is napping if I'm not napping or cleaning myself! If I can get 30mins in a day I will feel very happy!

Just Some Updates!!

Here is a picture of my Starry Night, it is a mobile picture so the quality isn't the best. I am almost finished with (my page one) I make working copies because I abuse my charts highlighters big X's when I finish a square etc, plus I increase the size some too so my page one isn't necessarily a page according to the kit. I am loving this but glad to be taking a break working on Connor's birth announcement. I didn't realize how the color changes were slowing me down so much.

Picture update # 4

Again sorry about the quality.

Here is my birth announcement for Connor. Oh my the frog has visited so much and there are a few permanent mistakes but I have been able to "fix" them can you tell where they are?? Seriously if you can please let me know I'd rather know now than people point them out once it is finished and framed and hanging in his room haha.
I have realized that gridding is a life saver for me, I still do the counting like normal but...its more of a "okay I should be hitting a grid line" and if I am I know I am safe and if I'm not I know I need to recount. I know a lot of stitchers think its cheating...but it saves me heartache :)

I can't believe I will be 31 weeks this Sunday, time is flying by yet crawling so slow. I am so excited to meet my little boy, but so scared at the same time. I mean my choices can affect this child forever!!!
Whew. Alot is resting on our shoulders.

We got the pack 'n play, play yard put together LOL that was fun and then the stroller too. I just have to say the only word on the English instructions were "SNAP" with a digital drawing of the item but for the other languages there were like 30 words each diagram. Makes you wonder how many words it takes to say "snap" in french LOL

I have joined a yahoo group called "The stitch specialists" I am so excited. A designer "Abi" not sure of her last name or is she wants it posted on the internet so will refrain at this time. Has made a project- they used it as a SAL but I'm a little behind and will be working on it late but its called "tree of stitches" Its all about specialty and stitching on linen. The instructions provided are GREAT and the chart beautiful! I am so excited to start this! Going to finish the birth sampler before I start the TOS and gotta get some fabric too and maybe some new thread. We will see! I may just use some threads from my current collection.

I think this is all for now, hope you all are doing great!

Pictures!

Okay so I now have two posts today, I wrote the other one the other day...but it went to drafts instead of posting?! I am sure it was a user error *slaps forhead* anyways....here are some picture updates!

This is one of the face plate covers that I made thanks to a pin on pinterest. Pretty simple actually, it's just scrapbook paper modpodged onto the face plate and then covered to protected the paper.

These were a little more tedious. Wood letters covered with fabric. Took a while but love the finished look!!

A close up of the fabric! This time we had to trace the letters onto the back of the fabric...then cut them out along the lines and then use spray fabric adhesive to attach. Just a FYI fabric stretches LOL There are some imperfections if you look closely but to me that makes it more personal. Again I am pleased with the results. I am sure a bunch of you guys could do much better LOL.

I am now working on the "baby row" from bent creek designs- This picture is from 123stitch.com although I purchased from a local needle shop! A fellow cross stitcher and the shop owner helped me tweek the colors just a little to match my nursery more...but I am pretty excited. The chart is GREAT easy to read and pretty simple to stitch as well! I will def be doing more Bent Creek items!!

Enough pictures for you guys? LOL! Hope you all have a great week!

Wow Sorry it has been so long!

We have been so busy. I haven't had much time to post on here. We had a baby scare, long story short there was an increased nuchal fold and or cystic hygroma noticed on our gender ultra sound. After a lot of worry and fret and many visits to specialist. So far everything has come back NORMAL- amniocentesis, fetal echo...are both normal no we just wait till our little boy is born and see what God has blessed us with I am confident a very healthy boy will becoming to us in December.

We have been working on his room. I have gone craft crazy making faceplate covers and letters for over his crib. Going to enjoy a weekend with a fellow stitcher, and start stitching my baby announcement!! Actually around 4:30 am wednesday I was at work and was convinced to take another pregnancy test by a parenting forum I joined and my coworkers. Lookie what I got!

Granted this was not the first test this was the third, because one wasn't enough to convince me, I am still going to the doc tomorrow to find more about prenatal stuff. I am so excited. I don't really feel pregnant yet and its hard to wrap my head around. I do feel bloated and my hips are killing me all along my sciatic nerve on both sides, down to my knees. Not too much morning sickness either. My poor DH has been really nauseated the last few weeks though sounds like unknown sympathy pains haha.I will keep you guys posted as I go along. I will be much more relaxed after my 13th week as of now I am about 6 weeks along according to caculators online I will hopefully know more tomorrow!

Now for a Stitchy update, as you can imagine not a lot of progress this weekend to much time spent visiting family with good news and for Easter!

Going to close for now. I am 27!! I have had a great birthday, Saturday I went out my my hubby's family as a combined dinner for both of us his bday is end of march. I got lovely presents from my inlaws pj's flip flops and stash money!!

Hubby got my a laptop so we don't have to take turns using the computers he does stuff with recording his music and I always complain that his programs make the thing run slow and that I wanted a netbook and small external hard drive. After some research he decided a basic laptop would be the way to go and I love it!! Its great for what I use it for I don't game mainly facebook my CSF, skype and blogger LOL. Of course and online shopping haha. I think he did this so he would gain his own laptop as well but it works out for both of us!!

Then today we went "looking for a chair" so I could finally set up my stitchy area...we found a chair and got it for 50% off *happy dance* we have found a local furniture store that we have done a lot of business with so they treat us GREAT when we come shopping there and we have reffered people to her store as well!!

So...some pics!!
'
First off a Starry night update!!

Now my new stitchy area!!

My Chair Can't really tell but there is blue around the darker brown design that matches the wall perfect!

And my stitchy setup....

Loving today!

Giveaway by Cross stitch and cupcakes!

I am entering a giveaway by Cross stitch and Cupcakes, I am entering Giveaway 1 and give away 5, which ones will you enter? I feel like most of my followers are from CSF anyways and don't want to overload them with the same info over and over again. But I post anyway just in case I have a non CSF follower out there!

I finally finished Bless this home, its off to be framed now- my DH works with a guy that has his own framing business on the side- this is my first professional framing job and I am nervous, never thought I would have control issues with cross stitch projects. LOL I think it has a lot to do with the fact that if it gets messed up, this is my DH's coworker and I can't very well tell him, "No I don't like it you messed it up now fix it or else bad reviews." Plus I don't get any say so it's all my DH's choose frame...matte etc...and I found out tonight that after I had told DH a few colors that I wanted, he told this guy "It's whatever you think man, your the framer." BLAH. He has framed something for DH in past his stuff from his diploma and stuff from graduation and it looked GREAT so I am going to relax and see what happens. After all I have told DH that if I don't like it, I will take it out go to a store and we will just be out the money. I really don't think it will come to that though. Here is a picture of the finished design.

I have finally started my Starry Night by Lady Bug Designs, I have to say that I have been very impressed with the kit I purchased from them. They offer charts or the whole kit, I choose the whole kit since they kit with DMC floss anyway. (when i checked the floss with some of my own stash it matched its real DMC not a DMC color equivalent.) The pattern came on two VERY large pages so I did have to make a working copy which ended up being eight normal pages ( I enlarged a bit). The chart is easy to read too. I grid, and a plus was that they had charted this particular chart so that the middle lines both horizontally and vertically landed on a grid line (hope this makes sense). Made gridding easy!! The only semi complaint not true complaint is that the floss was not separated but I think this was to avoid high shipping cost. I will upload a progress pic of this later.

Still no luck in the baby department, I need to relax I guess its only been a few months but I have always feared not being able to have kids, and now I have become irregular at first thought it was a good thing but 2 negative home test and a negative blood test have me convinced there is something up so going to make an appointment with the doctor...ugh...I hate doctors...hmm a nurse that hates going to doctors something you never see (insert sarcasm).

Until next time!!

Been a while!

Wow, I haven't posted in a long while!

Well we are moved in and settled at the new house...its great! We are all unpacked and settled. I have been stitching bunch lately!!

My sister is staying with my Aunt about 2 hours away, although not the most comfortable fit its stable and she is working a full time job!! She is saving money and is hoping to eventually save enough to get her own place here again. I am keeping my fingers crossed and saying many prayers for her!

Christmas is here! I can't believe it already, man when I was a kid it took FOREVER for Christmas to arrive now I blink and its here!!

My stepmother and I got into an argument. I am through with all that drama. I have tried and tried to explain many times how I feel and how she makes such a difference between her son and my sister and I. She won't listen it always turns into a screaming match. Her defense that her son is welcome in her home and we are not is that she does not call us "daughter" well my dad does not call her son "son" either but her son is always welcome. I am through with the drama and in turn my hubby and I will not be going up there for Christmas. I have too many people that want me in their lives to try and force myself into hers. I just hope pulling away from her won't mean never speaking to my father although it looks like it will I haven't talked to him since last tuesday.

Instead for Christmas, man I work most of the holiday I am going to my in laws on Christmas day after sleeping a bit from working all night. Then later that night my sister will come and stay at our new home and we are going to cook a Christmas dinner on Sunday. Start our own traditions. I have invited my dad I hope he comes but I am not holding my breath.

I lost the stitchy bug for a while during this summer, but I have been stitching a lot lately. I will post a pic of my progress on here at the end of this post. Long story short he had sent us some current listings my sister was looking at one with me and was like look at this one...I was afriad it wasn't in our price range but fell in love. Then the day we are looking at houses in person. My agent tells me I have a house you need to see, its priced a little more than you guys were looking at but, its a movtivated seller and I think you could get a good deal. So we go to look at the house...and its the one I fell in love with!! Two days later we are pre approved for a loan...and put in an offer. My agent told us to bid under what we were willing to give so that we had some negotiation room. Well he calls us that evening and says that he has good news and bad news. The good news was that there is a pretty good chance we will get the house at the low bid...the bad news was that is make take a few months to clear. Apparently after our offer...the owner has decided to do a short sale. Which takes a few months to process. So its a long few months of waiting. But..on a side note there were renters in the house so we would of been required to give them three months notice anyways. So now I don't have to feel guilty asking someone to leave where they are living!! So my fingers are crossed I will try to update as I know.

This has also given me a reason to catch up on my SAL "my little heart" so that I can work on the bless this home for hopefully our new home!!

I am so stoked I am afraid to get my hopes up.

I have worked 9 days of the last 14. So Sorry!
I have been really busy! I love my new job and.....my sister has moved back near me. We have been making up for a lot of lost time, and I love it!! Plus I have a friend who is soon to move about 1 hour and 30 minutes away so we are spending a lot of time before she leaves. It is a positive move or at least she really feels this is what she needs to do so I am very happy for her.

So enough excuses, and on to stitching!! I finally finished my today is not your day project and in face am working on the My Little Heart SAL Stitch along that I found through the Cross Stitch Forum. I have been stitching during down time at work. I have to say though that a lot of my off time I think is going to be going to something other than stitching even though I enjoy it!!

A guy I went to high school with...over the last two years has started a homeless day shelter and I have been volunteering time there! I can't even start to explain how great it is to feel like you are giving back to your community! I mean I have only been there for two days and have been only driving the founder and one of the clients around trying to help him find an apartment. So far this organization has assisted about 40 people go from living in the woods in tents to living in homes with incomes and being pretty much self sufficient. Its great!!

For the first time in a long time...it seems like EVERYTHING is falling into place. I have a job I love...as well as my hubby, my sister is back with her family here...my step-mom and I are finally getting along!! Even growing closer. My hubby and I are planing to buy a house soon and start trying for babies. I am finally in somewhat of a position to give back even though I'm not giving money I am giving time...

I keep waiting for the anvil to fall. :) I am truly blessed!!

Well Well!

When I was in nursing school. I worked on a inpatient rehab unit (not drug rehab but physical therapy rehab). When I finished nursing school I was not hired for two reasons, one they did not have any positions open and the nurse manager stated that she did not hire new grads that she wanted them to have other experiences first. Well after I had my conversation with my boss. I talked to my hubby, about where I would go. Rehab was a first thought, but they never have a full time position open. Guess what...they did. I applied....I interviewed then did a second interview...and got hired!!!! My first day there is the 26th of this month. So as of now I only have 9 days left in the ER. I am excited!!

I did not get to do a lot of stitching, a friend of mine is going through some rough stuff and have spent a lot of time over here...she and her boyfriend have broken up. She doesn't want to be alone...so she has been hanging out here a lot. Which is fine but I did not get to stitch.

Update, As Promised

Well here is a weekly update. To the fearful it is threatening because it means that things may get worse. To the hopeful it is encouraging because things may get better. I love my job in ER, but I have not been happy for a while. After much prayer for signs on whether or not the ER is right for me. I had a conversation with my boss and we both agree that ER is not the place for me. My pride is hurt buuttt it is something I have none for a while. I had an interview today with a lady I used to work for. NOw I will be going back for a sort of second interview with charge nurses from the night shift. *Crosses Fingers* I have worked on this unit before as a nurse tech and loved it!!!!! I really miss these patients and the people that work there. This am while waiting for the boss to get out of a meeting for our interview. Everyone spoke to me and were asking when I was coming back I told them that I was hoping to and that is why I was there. I am very excited and trying to look at this as a positive change. I have no idea who if anyone will follow me and to be honest I am not doing this for followers :).

I am new to Cross Stitch and have become an immediate addict hence the name Stitchaholic. I am also a Stashaholic in the making!!

I am happily married for about a year and a half now. I am very lucky to be married to my best friend, even though we get on each others nerves at times. I don't know what I would do without my DH! Plus he is very understanding and even encouraging about my newest cross stitch habbit!! Who could ask for more??
I am a nurse in a local ER. I love my job...the majority of the time..sure I have nights that are bad but never bad enough to make me hate my job. A few days off and I am ready for more!

Currently I am working on a project for my big sister. I have decided to send her a care package, she is going through a rough time now and lives to far for a "quick pick her up visit" I have made a daisy item for her. Daisies were our mothers favorite flower. They have since become ours as well. Any time I see a daisy I think of both my mom and sister.
I also am stitching a saying about I can please one person a day, today is not your day and tomorrow is not looking great either. I thought this would be great for her desk at work considering she is in a call center doing customer service. (Hope her super lets her display it..you can't see it over the phone after all right?)

So far a lot of my projects have been very simple. But I enjoy them and that is all that matters!!
I hope anyone reading my blog enjoys what they see. Feel free to leave comments. If you ever have any questions I will try my best to help but can not promise anything!!
